Great science series....

This entire series of books on animals, their habitats, life cycles, etc. are wonderful! I own 13 of them now. I use these with my first graders during our animal unit. Each book has fantastic pictures and drawings. The information is presented very well but also simply enough that primary aged students can grasp the concepts and find it fascinating. The books also enable themselves to be read in pieces if you want to skip something or focus on a certain area. I highly recommend books by Bobbie Kalman!

About the Author
Donald L. Lucero is a former resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, where he was born in his father's home, formerly the home of his paternal grandfather. He was educated in the Las Vegas schools through college, where in 1958 he received his B. A. in history from New Mexico Highlands University. After service with the U. S. Army, he served a two-year commitment with the U. S. Peace Corps in Colombia, South America. He then returned to New Mexico on a Peace Corps Preferential Fellowship to pursue graduate work in Counseling at the University of New Mexico. He received his M.A. in Counseling from this institution in 1965 and returned to complete his doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 1970.

Since completion of a post-doctoral fellowship in Community Psychiatry and a second master's degree in Mental Health Administration at the University of North Carolina Medical School and School of Public Health, he has held several clinical and administrative positions in mental health. Dr. Lucero, a licensed psychologist, conducts a private practice in psychology in Raynham, Massachusetts. He is also the author of A Nation of Shepherds and The Rosas Affair, both from Sunstone Press.

Excellent Story of the Colonization of New Mexico

I bought this book for information about my Lucero De Godoy and Baca ancestors. I got much more than I expected.
This book is a very engaging narrative of the history of the colonization of New Mexico from 1598 to 1958. It has given me a new appreciation for the challenges my ancestors faced and their tenacity in molding this unique environment into the Land of Enchantment.

Frustrating lack of content

I lived in Korea for a year and found the former edition of the book alternately frustating and helpful. At least the new edition doesn't feature as many comments about there being nothing for tourists to do. The book needs more written in Korean. The romanizations are confusing because most of Korea uses a different system. So you will see different words at the bus station when you're looking for the English translation of where you're going. Additionally, the Korean alphabet is not hard. A typical foreigner can learn it in one night in a bar from a patient teacher. (I've seen this happen!) So there is no excuse for not including resturant and hotel names in Korean. Finally, fun things to do like singing rooms, coffee houses, good bars...all the stuff I wanted to find aren't mentioned very often. Different cities are famous for different kinds of food and the area specialties aren't mentioned for several places that really should have them. I agree with the former reviewers that the Moon guide book is better and the phrasebook by lonely planet is excellent.

get a different travel guide

You have to wonder when a guidebook starts off practically every section about a new city with: "Not many people come to (fill in city's name) but if you get stuck here then try this... I find Lonely Planet Korea to be very negative about the country and the cities within it (with the exception of Seoul). It gave very little practical information. I haven't seen the new edition, but I bought the previous one and was truly disappointed by it.
A much better, more comprehensive, and upbeat guide is the Moon Handbook by Robert Nilsen. I see he's just come out with a new edition too. He seems to know a lot more about Korea than the Lonely Planet writers and offers a better view for the traveler who is going to be in Korea for a few months or more. If you are going for a week, maybe Lonely Planet is o.k., but for anything longer disregard it and use the internet or the aforementioned travel guide.

Useless, left at home!

I just come back from Korea for 2-3 days.
This LP book is really disappointed me.
It lack of information, inaccurate data and undetailed map.
Ok I know that i published about 2-3 years ago, the data
might inaccurate but it almost inaccurate, also the bus route???
If you follow the book guide on the way to Tongdosa you will probably get lost! Thats unacceptable.
It is nothing more than a good introduction to Korea to read at home.
Try Moon Guide or something else
here is my tips
1 Need map? just go to Korea, find Tourism Information kiosk
and you will find everything you want, good illustrate map
valueable advise and everything you want to know about Korea!
2 Use International cashcard (PLUS CIRCUS) will save you from deadly banknote exchange rate, but dont expect an international ATM in country side. (you can find a lot of them in subway Seoul) keep money, not credit!
3 Dont use a network ATM (like Han-net, Easy-money) It will charge you! Use bank ATM (CHB KB)
4 Dont bring this LP with you, burden!

The exploits of Lobo (wolf), The Pacing Mustang, Tito (coyote), Monarch (grizzly), Coaly-Bay (horse), Johnny Bear, and Badlands Billy (wolf) are presented in their entirety along with many of Seton's drawings. Stephen Zimmer was Director of the Seton Memorial Library at Philmont Scout Ranch at Cimarron, New Mexico for twenty years. Though it includes a murder, a search for the killer and an attempted killing, Maddox's second novel (after Llantarnam) is not nearly as exciting as it sounds. It's a less than suspenseful story of the private lives of the disjointed family of a privileged young man named Peter Spaulding, who is murdered in oil-rich Midland, Tex., in the summer of 1949. The murder does not occur until the end of Chapter 5, by which time readers have glimpsed Peter's devoted and pregnant wife, his memories of the East-Coast socialite he loved and his post-WWII quest for a quick fortune. Lathrop and Nina, Peter's long-divorced parents, come to Midland for the funeral. Lathrop, still obsessively in love with Nina (she left him for a wealthy, dishonest Brazilian) is Maddox's most affecting and convincing character, and the story focuses on him for a while as he stays behind to find out who killed his son. Maddox succeeds in bringing her characters to life midway through the narrative, after a number of chapters full of simplistic prose ("She spelled nothing but trouble") and soap-operatic plotting. The time and setting ring true, but Maddox's story suffers from a curious lack of style and cohesiveness. The solution of Peter's murder comes in an anticlimactic report from a private detective, and an epilogue, set years later, is an awkward appendage. About the Author
Muriel Maddox spent her early childhood in Rio de Janeiro where her father, a career naval officer, was stationed. Upon returning to the United States she attended Potomac School in Washington, DC, and at ten her first poetry was published in The Washington Post. She has written short stories and screenplays, and is also the author of Captain from Corfu, Llantarnam, Noela & That Man In Rio and Myra's Daughters, all from Sunstone Press. She has traveled extensively in Greece and on Greek cruise ships and visited the islands of Corfu, Rhodes and Mykonos.
